21 Nov Local Involvement & Local Investment
There’s a lot of talk, especially around the holidays, of supporting local businesses. As a local business since 1933, we recognize the importance of local businesses to our community.
It goes beyond shopping and dining. When you bank with a large corporate bank, the profits are not returned to the local community. Instead, they are paid to the shareholders. KEMBA is a not-for-profit, member-owned cooperative and our dollars remain in our community.
Did you know that local businesses (as a group) are the single largest employer across the country? They also are more likely to hire people with a better understanding of their product or service resulting in better service for customers.
Local ownership also ensures important decisions are made locally by people who live in the community and who will feel the impacts of those decisions. For example, all loan decisions are made locally at KEMBA. No computer program makes decisions and all decisions are made by our KEMBA employees, located right here.
We hope you join us in our passion for supporting and sustaining local businesses.
